Nitro Alley

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Nitro Alley doesn't pretend to be a simulator, and that's exactly why it works on a phone. It's all neon streets, tight drifts, and a boost meter you fill by holding slides through corners. Tilt or touch steering both feel responsive, though I settled on touch controls for the finer lines.

The track design is where it shines. Shortcuts hide behind ramps, and learning a route shaves seconds you didn't think existed. The rubber-banding on rivals is a little aggressive, but it keeps races tense down to the last stretch.

Progression is generous without feeling grindy, and the soundtrack absolutely carries the vibe. It's a perfect five-minute-race kind of game.
